‘Animal Crackers’, largometraje de animación que se produjo desde Valencia y que está dirigido por Scott Sava, Tony Bancroft y Jaime Maestro, sigue enredado en una maraña de contratos de distribución que impide su estreno en cines, cuando está lista para mostrar desde enero de 2017.
Blue Dream Studios, compañía de Scott Sava que abrió filial en Valencia para que el equipo de Jaime Maestro y la productora Nathalie Martínez hicieran realidad la película, sigue sin poder estrenar la película que fue seleccionada para el Festival de Annecy en 2017 y que recibió críticas positivas tanto por parte de los medios como del público.
Según se puede leer en una red social, ‘Animal Crackers’, cuyo estreno estaba fijado inicialmente para abril de 2017 de la mano de Relativity, ha firmado con Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures, de Byron Allen, para estrenar la película en abril de 2018, «pero todavía no hemos visto ningún contrato», asegura Scott Sava. «Llegados a este punto, no sé qué hacer. Cerré unos 20 millones de dólares con inversores que están ansiosos por ver la película y recuperar su dinero, no en vano, han esperado pacientemente cuatro años a que termináramos ‘Animal Crackers’ y ahora llevan un año viendo cómo la película está en un cajón» comenta Sava.
«¿Cómo puedo sacar ‘Animal Crackers’ de mi disco duro y llevarlo a vuestras casas/iPhones/cines?» se pregunta Sava.

So… what’s going on with the release date?
Here’s the best I can tell you at this point:
1) Animal Crackers has been complete (picture done and edited) since January 2017.
2) It was supposed to be released in April 2017 from Relativity.
3) That went KABLOOEY!
4) We then signed on with a newer/small company who had 6 months to release the film (September 1, 2017).
5) That went KABLAMMO!
6) We then signed with Byron Allen’s ESMP in November with the hopes to release in April 27, 2018.
7) We’ve still not even seen a contract yet.
At this point. I don’t know what to do. I have close to $20 million in investors anxious to see the film come out (and recoup their investment). They’ve waited patiently for up to 4 years as we made the film and then watched it sit for a year complete.
I have a dozen foreign distributors who want the film to come out too. We have signed contracts and they’ve been extremely patient as well.
Add to that the nearly 200 talented men and women who helped MAKE the film who all want to see it release.
We have the musicians, actors and actresses all waiting.
So. What do I do?
Continue to let the film be an «asset» for small studios wanting a film of value in their portfolio in hopes they can raise money?
Find an investor to help us release the film ourselves?
Give it away free on Youtube?
Kickstarter?
What?
I’m at my wits end and am reaching out to the world.
How can I get Animal Crackers off my hard drive and into your homes/theaters/iphones, etc?
How do I get my story. OUR story… out there when Hollywood has done EVERYTHING it can to keep us from releasing our film?
